New Antibodies for Researchers using the Zebrafish Model

Zebrafish (Danio rerio) have become an increasingly favoured vertebrate model for studying genes and gene function. One of the reasons for this is that zebrafish embryos are completely transparent. This makes them ideal for studying developmental processes in real time, allowing the study of vertebrate development and for understanding human disease processes.

AnaSpec are the industry’s first provider of Z-Fish antibodies specific for zebrafish target proteins.
Their expansive range of Z-Fish antibodies include targets relevant to:

  •     Apoptosis
  •     Cell cycle control
  •     Cytoskeleton
  •     Glucose and energy metabolism
  •     Signal transduction
  •     Immunity research

HDAC Activity Kits

The EpiQuik™ HDAC Activity/Inhibition Assay Kit is a ready-to-use set of essential components needed to measure HDAC activity/inhibition safely and quickly. It is suitable for measuring HDAC activity/inhibition from a broad range of species including mammalian cells/tissues, plants, and bacteria

  • Finish within 3 hours
  • Colorimetric assay: no need for radioactivity, extraction, or chromatography
  • Directly measure HDAC activity and inhibition, without using lysyl endpeptidase, thereby avoiding its false inhibitory effect on HDACs
  • Strip microplate format

STATs

STATs (signal transducers and activators of transcription) were originally discovered as two proteins (STAT1 and STAT2) which were involved in interferon-alpha (IFN-alpha) and IFN-gamma signal transduction. Since then, several other STAT proteins have been identified (STAT3, 4, 5a, 5b, and 6).

STATs undergo tyrosine phosphorylation in response to growth factor or cytokine signaling. This phosphorylation results in dimerization and translocation of STAT proteins to the nucleus. In some cases this process is mediated by JAK Kinases. For maximum activation of these proteins, phosphorylation at specific tyrosine and serine residues may be required in STAT1alpha, 3, 4, and 5.

WD-Repeat Family of Proteins

Protein-protein interactions provide a source of complexity for the multitude of physiological processes that must be executed by eukaryotes for development and for the maintenance of homeostasis. Through their conserved beta propeller structure, WD-repeat-containing proteins contribute to this source of complexity and have thus established themselves as a critical subject of study.
