Gene Name:
HTR3A
Description: The human HTR3A gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of 5-HT3A, a ligand-gated cation channel activated by 5-hydroxytryptamine (serotonin). 5-HT3A channels are expressed in the CNS and GI tract and are therapeutic targets in nausea and irritable bowel syndrome.

5-HT3A/B
Gene Name: HTR3A/HTR3B
Description: The human HTR3B gene encodes subunit B of the type 3 serotonin receptor. This protein forms pentaheteromeric complexes with the 5-HT3A protein that modulate and influence pore function.
GABAA (α1/β2/γ2)
Gene Name: GABRA1/GABRB2/GABRG2
Description: The human GABRA1, GABRB2, and GABRG2 genes encode the Cl--selective, ionotropic GABAA receptor channel. Mutations in GABRA1 have been linked to familial juvenile myoclonic epilepsy. GABAA receptors expressed in CNS neurons are therefore therapeutic targets in the treatment of seizures and anxiety.

Gene Name: GABRA1/GABRB3/GABRG2
Description: The human GABRA1, GABRB3, and GABRG2 genes encode the Cl--selective, ionotropic GABAA receptor channel. GABAA receptors expressed in CNS neurons are therefore therapeutic targets in the treatment of epilepsy and other neurological disorders.

Gene Name: GABRA2/GABRB2/GABRG2
Description: The human GABRA2 GABRB2 and GABRG2 genes encode the Cl--selective, ionotropic GABAA receptor channel. GABAA receptors expressed in neurons are therapeutic targets in treatment of neurological and psychological disorders (e.g., seizure and anxiety).

GABAA (α3β2γ2)
Gene Name: GABRA3/GABRB2/GABRG2
Description: The human GABRA2 GABRB2 and GABRG2 genes encode the Cl--selective, ionotropic GABAA receptor channel. GABRA3 transcripts are edited differently during childhood and adulthood, altering the rate of activation and deactivation. GABAA receptors expressed in neurons are therapeutic targets in treatment of seizures, anxiety and other neurological disorders.

GABAA (α4β3d)
Gene Name: GABRA4/GABRB3/GABRD
Description: The human GABR genes encode the Cl-selective, ionotropic GABAA receptor channel. GABRD is enriched in neurogliaform cells, with a role in the development of epilepsy. These receptors are therefore of interest in the treatment of seizures.

GABAA (α5β2γ2)
Gene Name: GABRA5/GABRB2/GABRG2
Description: The human GABRA5 GABR2 and GABRG2 genes encode the Cl--selective, ionotropic GABAA receptor-channel. GABAA receptors expressed in neurons are therapeutic targets in treatment of neurological and psychological disorders (e.g., cognitive impairment and schizophrenia).
nAChR (α7)
Gene Name: CHRNA7
Description: The human CHRNA7 gene encodes the acetylcholine-activated, cationic-selective, nAChRα7 channel. Expressed in CNS neurons and non-neuronal cells (placenta, endothelia, vascular smooth muscle), the nAChRα7 channel is a therapeutic target in treatment of inflammation, schizophrenia, and cognitive impairment.

nAChR (α4/β2)
Gene Name: CHRNA4/CHRNB2
Description: The CHRNA4 and CHRNB2 genes encode subunits for the neural nicotinic acetylcholine receptor. The α4/β2 combination predominates in the brain, and mutations in CHRNA4 are linked to seizure disorders such as frontal lobe epilepsy as well as a possible role in nicotinic addiction.

Gene Name: GRIA1
Description: The GRIA1 gene encodes a subunit of the alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazole propionate receptors, which can be homo or heteromeric. AMPA receptors play a key role in long term potentiation/ depression in hippocampal synapses. GRIA1 mutations have been linked with limbic encephalitis.

NMDA (NR1/NR2A)
Synonym: GluN1/GluN2A
Gene Name: GRIN1/GRIN2A
Description: The human GRIN1/GRIN2A genes encode the cationic-selective, n-methyl-d-aspartic acid receptor-channel expressed in the CNS. NMDA receptors are therapeutic targets in treatment of neurological disorders including seizure, pain and Alzheimer's disease.

Glycine (GlyRα3)
Gene name: GLYRA3
Description: Human GLYRA3 is expressed mostly in the spinal cord, within the superficial layers of the dorsal horn. Depletion of GlyRα3 receptors causes altered pain sensitisation responses, making GLYRA3 a key target in pain therapy.
