Gene Name: TRPA1
Description: The human TRPA1 gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of TRPA1, a non-selective cation channel expressed in sensory neurons and hair cells. TRPA1 channels are therapeutic targets in treatment of pain.
Gene Name: TRPM8
Description: The human TRPM8 gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of TRPM8, a non-selective, cation-permeable channel. TRPM8 channels are therapeutic targets in cancer, overactive bladder and neuropathic pain.
Gene Name: TRPV1
Description: The human TRPV1 gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of TRPV1, a non-selective, cation-permeable channel expressed in CNS and PNS (dorsal root ganglion) sensory neurons. TRPV1 channels are therapeutic targets in inflammatory bowel syndrome, incontinence, rheumatoid arthritis and pain.
Gene Name: TRPV2
Description: The human TRPV2 gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of TRPV2, a heat activated cation permeable channel known to play a role in the sensing of heat. It has recently been found to play a role in the cardiac response to mechanical or haemodynamic stress, making it an interesting target when testing for cardiac damage.
Gene Name: TRPV3
Description: The human TRPV3 channel is found in keratinocytes and epithelia such as the nasal and oral epithelium. Its activation by temperature is linked to wound healing, skin barrier formation and events such as itching and inflammation. It is therefore of interest in therapeutic treatment of wounds and sensory disorders.
Gene Name: TRPV4
Description: The human TRPV4 gene encodes the pore-forming subunit of TRPV4, a moderately selective (PCa/PNa = 6) cation channel. TRPV4 channels are therapeutic targets in pain and asthma.
