Kollodis Biosciences is developing an important new series of products for cell culture and tissue engineering applications, based on its proprietary MAPTrix® technology.
The MAPTrix® Technology is based on recombinant Mussel adhesive proteins (MAP) fused to peptide domains carefully selected from a range of important extracellular matrix proteins.
The resulting bioactive polypeptides have been shown to perform well in the biofunctionalization of a wide range of materials. MAP is an inherently adhesive, polyphenolic protein known to be non-toxic, biodegradable and to have low immunogenicity, making it attractive for use in a variety of medical, biological and industrial applications. Benefits of the MAPTrix® technology ● Biofunctionalized mussel adhesive protein provides an“in vivo like” environment for life sciences applications (for example, in cell culture and tissue engineering applications) ● Reproducible and reliable biofunctionalization. MAPTrix® enables precise control of surface biofunctionality in the matrix or substrate of interest in terms of biofunctional peptide density or spatial distribution (for example on a patterned substrate) ● Convenient and reliable surface modification and/or coating of a substrate due to the inherent adhesive property of mussel adhesive protein |
