A gastroprotective agent; increases transfer of Lucifer yellow CH between isolated rabbit gastric epithelial cells, indicating enhanced GJIC; inhibits gastric mucosal lesion formation and decreases in gastric mucosal blood flow induced by monochloramine in rats at 3 mg/kg, effects that can be prevented by L-NAME; inhibits fMLP-induced superoxide anion production and increases cAMP levels in isolated human neutrophils in a concentration-dependent manner, similar to rolipram
