A polyphenol; inhibits LPS-induced COX-2 activity in RAW 264.7 cells (IC50 = 19.23 µM); inhibits proliferation of HCT116, Caco-2, and HT-29 colon cancer cells (IC50s = 56.3, 35.9, and 68.6 µM, respectively); decreases plasma glucose levels in a rat model of STZ-induced diabetes ranging from 1.8 to 7.2 mg/kg; reduces infarct size in a rat model of isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction at 25 and 50 mg/kg
