An alkaloid with diverse biological activities; inhibits LPS-induced production of NO in primary rat microglia (IC50 = 13.7 µM); protects against glutamate-induced cytotoxicity in HT22 cells at 100 µM; induces relaxation of isolated rat arterial rings precontracted with phenylephrine or potassium chloride; reduces reserpine-induced head twitch behavior in mice at 30 mg/kg
