An FGF2 mimetic; protects against glutamate-induced toxicity in primary rat cortical neurons at 0.1, 0.3, and 1 µM, an effect that can be reversed by PD 166866; stimulates neurite outgrowth in primary rat hippocampal neurons at 1 µM; reduces cognitive deficits induced by injection of aggregated Aβ40 and ibotenic acid into the hippocampus in a rat model of Alzheimer's disease at 10 mg/kg
