A phenolic acid with diverse biological activities; inhibits RLAR in vitro (IC50 = 11.13 µM); inhibits the growth of S. aureus (MIC = 0.5 mg/ml); scavenges DPPH free radicals in a cell-free assay (IC50 = 5.26 µg/ml); induces degranulation of RBL-2H3 mast cells; increases plasma serotonin and β-hexosaminidase levels in guinea pigs
