A phenolic compound; scavenges DPPH (EC50 = 0.184 mg/ml) and AAPH radicals (IC50 = 0.124 mg/ml); decreases IL-6 and TNF-α serum levels and macrophage infiltration into epididymal adipose tissue in high-fat diet-fed rats at 90 mg/kg per day; decreases serum and liver FFA levels and lowers blood glucose level in an oral glucose tolerance test in high-fat diet-fed rats at 90 mg/kg per day
