A polyphenol with diverse biological activities; scavenges DPPH radicals; inhibits XO (IC50 = 7.36 µM); decreases protein levels of tyrosinase and MITF in B16/F1 murine melanocytes, inhibits melanogenesis in the same cells, and decreases tyrosinase activity in cell lysates at 25 µM; increases biliary flow in rats
