Product Description:
A pyridoindole antioxidant; scavenges hydroxyl, peroxyl, and alkoxyl radicals and quenches singlet oxygen in cell-free assays; reduces lipid peroxidation induced by hypoxia and reoxygenation in rat forebrain ex vivo at 2 mg/kg; improves survival in a rat model of carotid artery ligation-induced cerebral ischemia; increases myocardial blood flow and decreases infarct area in a dog model of coronary artery occlusion-induced myocardial infarction at 1 mg/kg; dietary administration delays the development of cataracts and reduces eye lens protein oxidation and plasma levels of MDA in a rat model of STZ-induced diabetes at 0.05% w/w
