An HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor; selectively inhibits rat liver microsomal HMG-CoA reductase in its non-allosteric form with apparent Ki values of 53 and 550 µM at high and low thiol concentrations, respectively, which are associated with its non-allosteric and allosteric forms
