An α-glucosidase inhibitor (IC50s = 5.6, 0.11, 0.16, and 0.07 µM for human lysosomal α-glucosidase and rat maltase, isomaltase, and sucrase, respectively); selective for human α- over β-glucosidase (IC50 = >1,000 µM); decreases body weight and food intake in sucrose-loaded GK type 2 diabetic rats at 0.2 mg/kg
